I’m Rosa, a British entrepreneur living in Dubai. I run my own business while being a mum to my daughter, Ayda. I’m passionate about fitness and fashion, and while I often find myself still working at 11 at night, I never miss sports day or the school run. Dubai has given us both the gift of freedom, encouraging Ayda’s independence and free spirit while allowing me to build a life where family and career can co-exist.

ROSA'S HONEST PARENTING LOW DOWN:

  1. What’s one thing you wish you’d known before becoming a parent?

That there’s no handbook. No matter how much advice you’re given, you really do figure it out as you go along, and that’s okay.

  1. What’s something you swore you’d never do as a parent—but do now?

Let her sleep in my bed. I always thought I’d be strict about routines, but sometimes cuddles win. I also swore I’d never give her a dummy, but I gave in after about a week!

  1. What was the BEST piece of parenting advice you’ve received?

Pick your battles. Not everything has to be a fight—save your energy for the important things. And remember, time is the most precious gift you can give your child.

  1. Share with us your biggest “parenting fail” – we promise no judgement here!

Not letting my nanny help me in the first few weeks. I was determined to do it alone despite having support, and now—eight years later—I couldn’t imagine life without her.

  1. How do you balance life?

By juggling! I run my business around school schedules—I always do the school run, tend to work from home in the afternoons, and often carry on late into the evening. It’s not a perfect balance, but I’ve learnt to embrace the chaos.

  1. One parenting hack you’d like to share with us.

Give her choices, even small ones. It makes her feel independent and avoids unnecessary power struggles. And above all, be her best friend—it builds trust and keeps your bond strong.

  1. What do you hope your kids say about you when they’re older?

That I was always there for her—whether it was cheering from the sidelines, showing up at school events, or encouraging her to chase her dreams. And most of all, that her Mom is her best friend.

  1. 3 words that describe #MumLife to you

Unpredictable, rewarding, exhausting.
