Long time UAE resident of 13 years, Leanne is the founder of Conscious Collective, the UAE’s first organic kidswear brand where families can rent, buy, or reuse. When she’s not ferrying her three boys from one activity to the next, Leanne loves nothing more than long beach days with her family and a good BBQ with friends.

1.      What’s one thing you wish you’d known before becoming a parent?

Having kids will change you in ways you never imagined

2.     What’s something you swore you’d never do as a parent—but do now?

Dinners; serving the same pasta dish for the third night in row when I always said I would make sure they had a varied menu

3.    What was the BEST piece of parenting advice you’ve received?

You’re the expert on your own child not anybody else

Had the class what’s app groups muted – and missed the mention of a teacher training day so I sent the kids in. Upon arriving in the carpark I wondered why it was so quiet and the gates were locked (they have not been muted since, and ironically now class rep)

5.     How do you balance life?

It’s more about the flow not balance for me, some days lean into work, some days lean into family, and some days you must lean into yourself. I’ve learnt to be ok with that and to remove the guilt

6.    One parenting hack you’d like to share with us.

Swim bag/ busy bag in the car boot at all times so we’re ready for any adventure

7.     What do you hope your kids say about you when they’re older?

That I encouraged them to be kind, curious, and to always speak out if they think something is wrong
