Family Weekend in Dubai: Mama Crumble Brings Proper British Pudding to Ripe Market

Some family recipes are too good to keep to yourself. That's the story behind Mama Crumble, the mother-and-daughter dessert brand opening at Ripe Market, Academy Park, on 10 October.

Yasmin and Zoya Kidwai grew up with crumble on the table at every birthday, rainy weekend and long family lunch, always made to Mum's recipe. Now they're sharing it with the rest of us as Dubai's first homegrown British crumble bakehouse.

For little ones, it's a lovely introduction to a proper pudding: soft apples cooked with cinnamon, a buttery shortbread crumble and vanilla bean custard. There's a mixed berry version at Ripe too, and older children will enjoy choosing their own extras, like homemade granola or a crackly custard brûlée top.

The outlet is open every day for the next eight months, so it works as a weekend market treat or an after-school pick-me-up. Parents, there's matcha and coffee on the menu for you.

And for the evenings when the children are finally asleep and you want something warm and sweet on the sofa, Mama Crumble delivers across most of Dubai via Deliveroo, Talabat, Careem and Noon.
